Even though I wasn't present for the service at NRHC this Sunday, I found out tonight at Journey Group that Pastor Jay's sermon was basically along the same lines as the one Dr. Baum gave at CCC this past weekend. The idea of Biblical community is one that I have always appreciated, but hearing the ideas of these two different men of God has definitely given me a new perspective.
There are so many opportunities in my life where I get to practice Biblical community with the people around me; at church, journey group, when hanging out with friends, or even over the phone or chatting online with people who live farther away. When we focus ourselves on honesty with one another, correcting one another, encouraging one another, serving one another, and investing in one another, we can live out the community to which God has called us, and we demonstrate His glory to the world around us. So powerful. A lot to meditate on, for days and weeks and months and years to come.
