The Gospel

Another good message this morning.  Ephesians 2:1-10 was the passage, and Pastor Jay clearly laid out the truth of the gospel, both the good and the bad:

In and of ourselves, we are...

-Dead in our sin (powerless to change or resurrect ourselves)
-Following Satan
-Children of wrath

BUT GOD...
-initiates our salvation
-substitutes Himself for us (exchanging what we have and deserve for what Jesus has and deserves)
-saves us by grace through faith
-changes our lives
-transforms us

The Gospel is indispensable and costly--it cost Jesus everything.  We receive it freely.

What I take away from this:  The challenge is to figure out how we can live this out every day--how we can allow Jesus to do a repeat performance of His life through us each and every day.  It is certainly both humbling and also reminds me so much of His love for me.
