I just figured that as my blog is called Tales of a Teacher, I should probably talk about teaching...occasionally. And today is a great day to do it: my fifth graders had several big hoorays today!
Several of my students have initiated to create, write, and distribute a school newspaper. Their first edition came out today. SO proud of them.
My class performed at the first ever YPA Elementary Art and Music show, and they performed the hardest recorder piece of the three classes and did fantastic! Practically flawless for the first half, and the second half was still pretty good.
At the show, we found out that one of my students won first place in an art competition sponsored by the local solicitor's office. So that was pretty cool too.
There are a lot of down days of teaching, and I'm still not sure that's what I want to do long term, but it is definitely nice to have some good ones thrown in there too ;-).
