Today my two dozen 5th grade chicks flew the coop and graduated. And I am SO thankful :-). I know next year I'lll miss them and wish I had them back, but I am definitely glad to be an empty-nest teacher at the moment. Well except for the part where I still have to pack up and move all the stuff in my room. Ugh.
However, I am very thankful today and very much blessed. I have far more and far better friends than I deserve, far more job security and stability than many (in spite of recent turbulence), and a far greater God than could possibly be comprehended by my limited human brain. I am definitely praying for added strength and endurance tomorrow, but I know that somehow, at the end of the day, it will work out and I will be okay.
Less than a week until I leave for Italy! Scary thought... I will also, in a way, be flying the coop myself, even if it is temporarily. And it is no poor reflection on Italy or on Alfred to say that I am far more excitedly anticipating the rest of my summer after I return; even though I know Italy will be great and fun to see, I am really looking forward to spending extended time with family and friends this summer, especially those who will soon be moving :'-). God is so good to give me additional time, and I couldn't be more appreciative.
