Journey Home part 1: La Spezia to Rome

June 19, 8:00 am, Arianna Hill House

Waking up and getting ready to go downstairs for breakfast.  Our B&B gives us the largest selection for breakfast that I could possibly imagine...pasteries, yogurt, cereal, fruit, milk, juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, sliced ham/salami/sausage/cheese, bread, nutella, jam, bread, coffee cake, and I'm sure there's something else that I'm forgetting.  Yesterday Alfred and I feasted and only ate one other meal, and it worked great.  Planning to do the same today, which will be convenient with us traveling.

June 19, 12:00 am, Pisa

Yes, as in Leaning Tower of ;-).  We had an open ticket, so we decided to take the first train to Pisa and make a layover there with enough time to hop on a bus, go see the tower and take pictures, and then hop back on a bus to the train station.  The tower is much smaller than I imagined, but it was still cool to say I've seen it.

June 19, 3:00 pm, Florence

We have a longish layover here, so we checked our luggage at the train station and are going to the internet spot to do some email/blogging/phone calls.  Then we're going to grab sandwiches at our favorite spot here in Florence on the way back to the station.  Our train to Rome is a super fast highspeed one...we'll be there in about 1.5 hours, and then we'll just have to figure out what we want to do between arriving and going to the airport.
