Soul Sanctuary

Ever heard of a bird sanctuary?  A place where birds can come and rest at peace, knowing they are safe, cared for, protected?  I am so blessed to have a number of places I can go when I am weary and in need of comfort and solace.  It makes it easy to feel, by contrast, so much emptiness in Rock Hill, but I am learning to simply relax and enjoy the time I am given.

Of all the places that I go to be recharged, my favorite one is with the Maguire family.  They have truly become, for me, a soul sanctuary.  I know that when I visit, I am accepted, I am appreciated, I am loved.  I have a friend in Kristin who will ask the hard questions and expect the hard answers.  Who will encourage and point me toward Christ.  I have some wonderful comfort in her daughters and their willingness to show me love through physical touch and quality time.  I have the opportunity to let go and be myself, and not worry about pushing myself to be more or do more than what I already am and do.  It is a glorious feeling.

I hope and pray everyone has experienced a soul sanctuary.  If not, I highly recommend seeking one.  Find people who encourage and uplift you.  Who challenge you spiritually but support you along the way.  When you find your own soul sanctuary, enjoy it, but then take the time to give back. Look for ways to serve those who serve you.  Look beyond that small sphere to ways you can uplift and encourage others who are not touched by Christ's love in their own everyday lives.  In fact, look for ways to spread soul sanctuary everywhere you go.
