During the sermon today, Carl challenged us to pray prayers of eternal significance. He suggested 8 different prayers, based on prayers Paul prayed in his epistles, and asked us to think of one or two that stood out most to us to focus on in the week to come.
The one I chose comes from Colossians 1:9-12: 9 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
Carl's suggested prayer from this passage was to pray that we would know God's will and it would lead us to bear fruit. So that is my prayer this week. That I would be confident in God's will for me each moment as I go through the day, and that I would walk in the way He has planned for me, bearing fruit at the proper time.
