At Safariland Huddle tonight, Pastor Jay shared 1 Corinthians 15:58 with us. I had heard this verse before, but when he shared out of two different versions, God really used it to speak to me a promise that I can claim as my own. I'm putting the two versions below:
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. (ESV)
So, my dear brothers and
sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the
Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. (NLT)
The NLT version really stood out to me, not so much with regards to serving at church, but more for my work as a teacher. Particularly at the end, that NOTHING I do for the Lord is ever useless. Even when I can't see how it could possibly impact the kingdom, there is still a purpose and a reason for the things He has called me to do as a teacher. Not easy to remember and believe, but something I can cling to when the days are hard and the trials are many. Thank you, Lord!!!
